UCLA Latex Resources: Tips on installing, using, and troubleshooting Latex.
BibTeX is a tool for formatting lists of references. The BibTeX tool is typically used together with LaTeX. It makes it easy to cite sources in a consistent manner, by separating bibliographic information from the presentation of this information. BibTeX is an excellent way to manage your references.
While BibTex documents can certainly be created "by hand", there are point-and-click interfaces that will do a lot of the "heavy lifting" for you:
- JabRef is an bibliography reference manager interface that creates BibTeX files. JabRef runs on Java VM and should work equally well on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
- JBibtexManager is another java-based program that provides a point-and-click interface. Create, edit, sort and search BibTeX files.
- Other BibTex utilities are available at the Comprehensive TeX Archive Network (CTAN)
