Sociology Department to Nominate Mary Rippon for an Honorary PhD.
During the Academic Year of 2005-06, the Sociology Department will be joining with others at CU and in the larger Boulder community to nominate one of CU's great foremothers, Mary Rippon, for an honorary Ph.D. Degree. For 31 years, Mary Rippon taught without any degree at all! Not even a bachelors. The effort to award Mary a degree was originally made in 1998, but it failed.
