Jan. 16:            Professor Tom Mayer will talk about ‘Being an Activist Academic.’

 

Jan. 30:            Professor Kathleen Tierney will talk about the Natural Hazards Center.

 

Feb. 6:             Professor Jane Menken will talk about IBS.

 

Feb. 20:           Professor Liam Downey will talk about his research interests.

 

March 6:          Professor Larry Frey will give a presentation entitled ‘Communication Activism and Social Justice.’ He will talk about how scholars need to adopt an activist orientation and bring resources to bear to make a difference, especially for those most marginalized and oppressed.

 

March 20:        Professor Ying Lu will discuss her research interests.

 

April 3:            Professor Martha Gimenez will give a research presentation.

 

April 17:          Panel discussion on ‘developing your CV while in graduate school.’

 

May 1:             Professor Amy Wilkins will talk about her research interests and the difficulties inherent in conducting qualitative research.
