Welcome to my website! I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Colorado-Boulder and a research affiliate of the International Peace Research Institute, Norway. My work focuses on international security, civil wars, conflict management and resolution, and human security.

My research explores the role that third-party states and organizations play in international disputes and civil wars. My approach to international intervention draws from contemporary liberalism with an emphasis on economic interests and political institutions. An important part of my current work focuses on the strategic aspects of intervention decisions and how third-parties relate to each other in the civil war environment. I am also working on projects that employ an institutional approach to the study of human security and mass killings.
