At some point I may decide to fill this page in more systematically.  For now I’ll just say a few things.

My first priority and biggest passion in life is my family: my wife Lisa and my kids Michael, Alex, Jackson and Julia.  Everyone should be so blessed with love and laughter as I am.

Music also moves me.  I like just about any music that speaks of/to the human experience as I recognize it.  That means that there’ll be (at least the possibility of) both good and bad, in terms of themes and performances.  Because I like music that takes risks, I tend to prefer live improvisational music of all kinds.  In my “free time” I am working on a book about a specific artist’s musical life that will get at themes of individual struggle, the nature of genius, America and the human experience.  Or something like that.

Last thing I’ll say for now is that I feel extremely fortunate to be where I am.  Everything about my department, CU, the Boulder area, Colorado and the American West suits me to a ‘T’ … come on out and see for yourself!
